Varieties
language that is spoken in Surabaya, Trenggalek, and Tulungagung
Talk
about language, it has been familiar in our life. One of the most important
things is its use of language for communication. In the social life, the role
of humans is as a social being that cannot live alone. For this purpose, keep
the communication each other must become the primary requirement for them. About
the languages that are have the relation between societies, in linguistics have
been studied in sociolinguistics. Sociolinguistic have given the guidance for
us when we communicate to other people, what the suitable language that we must
be used when we are speaking to other people.
As we all
know that language is used by the people in over the world, certainly it can
become the differences of language usage. One of the factors that can make it
happen is the particular area of country / region. Every region has different
characteristics when they are spoken the language, for example the language
that is used by people who lived in Surabaya differently with the language that
is used in Trenggalek or Tulungagung. These varieties in sociolinguistics
called ”Regional Dialect”.
To make the term of “Regional Dialect” more
clearly, I want to show the characteristics of language spoken that’s always
used by the people who live in Surabaya, Trenggalek and Tulungagung.
Surabaya dialect or more
commonly known as Suroboyoan language is the Javanese dialect that is usually spoken by the people
who live in Surabaya and
the surrounding. That can make the characteristics of surabaya
dialect (suroboyoan) is mentioned the children with “rek”, if in
standard Javanese called “bocah”, Surabaya people is also usually said “seh”
( sih in indonesian language).
Besides, they are also usually change the vowel /i/ into vowel /e/ and vowel /u/ into vowel /o/ for some words, for examples titip become /tetep/, tutup become
/totop/, etc. The word koen /k n/ for motioned you is also the
characteristic of language spoken in Surabaya, Hmmm….. It’s so seem roughness
right?? Because there is no different for speaking with older or younger people.
This is
very different with the language that is spoken in my beloved town, Trenggalek.
To mention you, we must know first to whom we want to speak. If to older
people, we use panjenengan or njenengan, for brother use sampean,
for friend use awakmu, etc. From Trenggalek, we go to Tulungagung I feel very strength and funny when at the
first time I know the dialect of Tulungagung’s people. They use the word “yee”
in the end of their utterance, for example: Mbak, Eka wes budhal yee?, The
function of word ”yee” is give the speaker sense comfortable when they’re
speaking and to make the utterance more polite. If this utterance doesn’t put
word “yee” it seems irreverent. Besides, the dialect of Tulungagung is “poh”
and “peh”. Poh is always spoken when the expressing surprise and
“peh” is the expressing disappointed. These word are as the
characteristic of Tulungagung’s people that is very hard if will be separated
for them and these dialects unconscious spoken while they have communication
each other.
In
conclusion, varieties language can also happen from the difference region, called
region dialect. Although each region has language as their dialect, but for
using it, we must know the suitable occasion.
If the occasion is formal we must use the standard language and also the
otherwise.
